About me
I am Yue Chen, an assistant professor (associate distinguished research fellow) at the School of Art, Design, and Media, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China. My research in human factors, ergonomics, and human-computer interaction has primarily focused on online communication and collaboration:
- Investigating the user needs and motivations that drive users to use a certain technology
- Designing, developing, and evaluating user interfaces
- Measuring mental states such as emotion and attention
The application scenarios include online learning, social media, complex industrial systems, and aging-friendly technologies. For example, My Ph.D. dissertation was about the interactions during video-based learning and the design to facilitate discussions and learning. I also worked on engaging older adults in lifelong learning via social media during my postdoc. Recently, I am working on how group members collaborate on creative problem-solving tasks via social media and how to support the process by AI.
